On 6-7 June, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited Stockholm. The programme included National Day celebrations at Skansen, bilateral talks and a visit to the Swedish Armed Forces.
On Monday 3 June, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson took part in a press conference together with Microsoft President and Vice Chair Brad Smith. Microsoft announced new investments in Sweden related to AI totalling SEK 34 billion.
Friday 31 May, Prime Minster Ulf Kristersson hosted a Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Stockholm. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Iceland’s Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson took part.
The Swedish government intends to ensure long-term support from Sweden to Ukraine through three-year military support totaling SEK 75 billion.
Following an earlier decision to freeze Russian central bank assets in the EU, the EU has decided to use the net income generated by the frozen assets to provide military and macroeconomic support to Ukraine.
In view of the extensive humanitarian needs in Gaza, the Government has presented a new humanitarian aid package amounting to SEK 120 million. With this decision to further increase the humanitarian assistance, Sweden will have contributed more than SEK 520 million in humanitarian aid to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The Government has recently presented three new national strategies for increased safety and security in Sweden. These are a strategy for strengthening efforts against violent extremism and terrorism, a strategy against organised crime and a crime prevention strategy on social prevention measures against criminal networks.
