Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström to receive Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly
On Wednesday 29 May, Mr Billström will receive Ms Joly. In connection with the meeting, a joint press conference will be held on the topics of the security situation, current NATO issues and Swedish-Canadian bilateral relations.

Continued strong support for Ukraine
The Swedish government intends to ensure long-term support from Sweden to Ukraine through three-year military support totaling SEK 75 billion.
Following an earlier decision to freeze Russian central bank assets in the EU, the EU has decided to use the net income generated by the frozen assets to provide military and macroeconomic support to Ukraine.

Swedish government increases humanitarian support to Gaza
In view of the extensive humanitarian needs in Gaza, the Government has presented a new humanitarian aid package amounting to SEK 120 million. With this decision to further increase the humanitarian assistance, Sweden will have contributed more than SEK 520 million in humanitarian aid to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Nordic summit on security and competitiveness in Stockholm
On 13–14 May, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson hosted the heads of government of the Nordic countries and Germany’s Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a summit in Stockholm. On Tuesday 14 May, Mr Kristersson and Mr Scholz held bilateral talks followed by a joint press conference in Swedish and German. The press conference is also interpreted to German. State Visit from Denmark
The King and Queen of Denmark will pay a State Visit to Sweden on 6–7 May 2024 at the invitation of His Majesty The King.
Sweden’s Government will be represented during the Visit by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Energy, Business and Industry and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch, Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström, Minister for Schools Lotta Edholm, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson, Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall and Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand.
Three new national strategies for increased safety and security
The Government has recently presented three new national strategies for increased safety and security in Sweden. These are a strategy for strengthening efforts against violent extremism and terrorism, a strategy against organised crime and a crime prevention strategy on social prevention measures against criminal networks.
