These guys have been caring for my 4 Volvos for almost 30 years. 1966 122S, 1973 P1800ES, and 2 740 wagons. Not to mention a number of 240 wagons along the way. Straight forward, clear, no BS solutions to car issues AND maintenance. Sometimes you save a lot down the road to spend a little more now. They help you figure that out. I highly recommend them.

Thought I'd add to the well-deserved 5 star rating for this family run operation that specializes in repairing and maintaining Volvos. On the recommendation of a family friend that had a Volvo -- we have been coming here since 1990 and we have never been disappointed in their service, fairness and their extraordinarily high integrity. They have worked on our 1988 240 Wagon over these years and we could not be more pleased.

To begin -- they always know that this is an older vehicle and constantly keep balance in their own minds and for our benefit the possibility that it just might not be worth it to make a repair. These frank discussions are remarkably refreshing and I can't recall how many times I have asked them to do the work anyway because: (1) unless the motor conks out I am keeping this car and (2) if these guys fix it -- its stays fixed and the vehicle remains very dependable thereafter.

They can't do all the work themselves and they have a cadre of associated specialty shops that do things like re-building transmissions, speedometer repair and occasional weld repairs -- this is very assuring for us since they pick only shops that they trust and will stand behind their work -- and that is certainly good enough for us. And yes, we have had all that done to the vehicle to excellent effect.

Dave Leyfax and his son John who now operates the shop are not just knowledgeable about Volvos -- they have a demonstrated passion for them and their experience is bankable. Their pricing is always fair and as a bonus, they are also remarkably friendly and will chat about almost anything beyond problems with the vehicle. Annually, I just bring in the car and ask them to look it over to see if anything is awry regardless of whether we are experiencing issues or not.

For us, having a nearly 30 year old vehicle still in good running shape is the highest testimony to their skills and experience. These guys really are as good as it gets.

I have been using Leyfax for over 12 years for my Volvos. They do not do unessessairy repairs. The parts they use are all first rate. (NGK spark plugs are not "generic")
They clean the engine only when it is FILTHY and uncared for.
I have brought cars there and reccomended the3ir services to anyone in the various Volvo clubs I know. As far as I know, the only negartive review they have had is the one posted here.
I would trust any car that passed their used car testing.

We've now used them with my '86 240 and my 2007 xc70. They helped with picking the model year on the second, giving advice on when to let go of the 240, and have taken great care of both thus far. As other reviews state sometimes it what they don't do that counts. I've never been pushed or guilted into a repair. They're thoughtful and logical about their process as well as quite helpful.

Yep AS GOOD AS IT GETS ! do not take your Volvo any were else , as i did before i tried at least 4 others in the 15 years of owning a 740gl and always left with the car ,feeling the expense was wrong , the knowledge and the customer services was just a complete waste of money, so if you like me want the attention your car seeks with out the unnecessary expense for what it does not need ,treat your self and your Volvo to the RIGHT people, the right parts , the right price !

I've been having my Volvo s40 serviced by Leyfax for the past 3 years. Service is excellent. Cost is much lower than the dealers, and they don't try to rip you with unnecessary service. These guys are Volvo specialists and know what they are doing. I strongly recommend Leyfax to any Volvo owner.

Stumbled across this review and just had to write my own. My family's owned Volvos as long as I can remember, and I got my '96 850 repaired here for six years. Dave (owner) is SUPER knowledgeable, along with the two other guys who work with him. They always explain what they're doing and what's going on, never try to rip me off and always provide competitive prices. If a warning light goes on, they'll check it out free of cost, advise you what to do, etc. They're extremely quick on repairs, but unlike the larger dealers can't offer temp cars or such. If you're looking for a familiar, local and trustworthy repair shop for your Volvo look no further. I don't live in Portland anymore so I don't regularly get my service done here anymore, but when I have a problem I never hesitate to ring them up or bring it in for an oil change when I'm back visiting family.

Layfax has been repairing my car for the last 13years and I would not take it anywhere else. Dave and his workers are very very knowledgeable.
More important, I have never taken it back once it was repaired by these guys! And the price is fair.

These gents have been amazing to work with. Very knowledgeable, friendly, honest and efficient. I drive a 2000 v70 XC wagon and I've been bringing it here since I moved to Portland 6 years ago for all its mechanical/maintenance needs. I can't be happier with my experience with Leyfax. And for someone on a tight budget, I have never felt taken advantage of or steered wrong. Greatest mechanics I've ever experienced. I took my '92 240 Volvo to Leyfax for over 3 years & they were consistently thorough & honest with their diagnostics. I live in Florida now and I swear it would cost less for me to have my Volvo sent back up to Leyfax, repaired by them, then sent back to me in FL than to take it to a mechanic here locally!
