This literal hole-in-the-wall almost escaped my vision as I power walked my way along the chilly SF street. I loveeeee creme brûlée like no other. It was the first dessert I saw made on Food Network, and it's stuck with me ever since. Something about browned sugar at the top and then finding the creamy custard underneath... mmmm....

The Creme Brûlée Shop is just the thing to satisfy that nagging in the back of your head that tells you you want some creme brûlée but don't want to go to a fancy French restaurant to get some. They serve up a variety of different creme brûlée that is sure to satisfy any flavor craving. We ordered the Cham-Wow!: dark chocolate with black raspberry liqueur. Doesn't that just sound like heaven? We watched them sprinkle the sugar and then torch it to get that crispy, sweet crust at the top. Still steaming, they handed it to us, and the SOMA location even has a table in front that you can stand at to enjoy your dessert. My only regret is that the portion was hardly enough for two of us to share. Good thing we ate dinner beforehand.

$4 = creme brulee joy! I tried the vanilla bean, coconut, and grand marnier. All of them were super smooth and the crunchy sugar top was expertly caramelized. I love that they torch the sugar in two steps so it creates a thick layer on top - because we all know that's one of the most important parts about creme brulee.

Toasted coconut was the best - the toasted cocounut shred topping add more textural contrast to the super smooth, rich pudding.

But go quickly! Because they do run out of flavors.

What a hole-in-the-wall place! The Creme Brulee Shop has a food truck, food stand, and now even a little hole-in-the-wall!

This place serves up some delicious creme brulee in different flavors. All of it is premade in a mini-cupcake holder, and they fire up the sugar on top right in front of you. Pretty tasty! A little bit pricey for the amount you're getting in my opinion (about $5 to $7 for one), but it's definitely a nice treat!

This location usually has a miniature counter setup right outside, but no real seating. (You order and get the items from a tiny window....you don't ever even walk inside anything!)

This little hole in the wall..! No indoor seating.

Creme brulee in a cart? I don't think so. This takes that to a another whole level. This place is situated inside a very tiny looking booth (if you can even call it that). There are half a dozen flavors you can choose from. I ordered the Smores, and the creme brulee man appeared to be constructing a work of art. He added marshmallows and cereal and attacked them by lighting them on fire. When they fire got too strong, he would wave his hands, and magically, a strong gust of wind would put the fire out! What a good show he put on! He looked like he was having such fun.

The smores was too chocolately in my opinion. I would not mind trying other flavors though! I am more of a vanilla type of guy.

Website says they are open on Tuesdays but they are not.

All kinds of flavor here. I came in trying to open the door to enter on the right. DON'T do that.... this shop only has a storefront and you can only order through the window. Cost only $4 or $5, so I ordered one with nutella and strawberry flavor, and asked the guy "What's a Side high 5?" Then pointed to the window with a large sign saying "Free side high 5!" He then gave it to me, and I ended up laughing so hard because I wasn't even expecting it.

Now back to the creme brulee, it was creamy and delicious! He made the crunchy sugary top right in front of me with a firey torch. Viola! Thanks, I'll be back for sure.

When I arrived in San Francisco I noticed a food stand located downtown for The Creme Brûlée Cart, however I was in a hurry to get checked into my hotel so I decided to pass but I made a mental note to check it out. After a busy evening touring Alcatraz I was in need of a snack and much to my surprise the Creme Brûlée SOMA location was open until 11pm so I decided to make a quick trek to some sweet delicious goodness. Diversity is key here, you can get a standard Creme Brûlée but why when you have delicious flavors like Smores, which was amazing. I highly recommend the Creme Brûlée Cart if you are craving a delicious desert! Now if I could just get them to franchise and open in Saint Louis!

When I try something at a hole-in-the-wall place that does ONE thing, I expect that thing to be amazing. Yet, my Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée was just "good"; can't really say anything bad about it, but can't rave about it either.

I finally got to try the Crème Brûlée Cart a couple of years since they were established (super late, I know!). I had seen them in SF a few times but was either running late to something or was too full to stop and order. I was excited to see them at the Wednesday food truck event at the Hiller Aviation Museum, and decided to stand in the short line to place my order. Since they brûlée to order, it can take a little while to get to the front of the line. I ordered the Mango Crème Brûlée ($4, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-cr%C3%A8me-br%C3%BBl%C3%A9e-cart-san-francisco-8?select=mVnV9IRrhHWVhORzNZOchw#mVnV9IRrhHWVhORzNZOchw), but forgot it at work so had to eat it the next day, which is why my crunchy shell on top melted.. bummer!! However, the crème part was silky smooth and delicious! It also had a great mango flavor that wasn't artificial tasting. I will definitely be back for more crème brûlée in the future!

Now after searching HIGH and LOW looking around for the Creme Brûlée cart, by golly they have a small store front!! My eye got big and my smile widen, as I asked about the flavors of the day. So I chose the cheese cake brûlée, and as I bit into the first bite the clouds started parting ways and the sun shine down on me.. YES it was that moving... OK, OK LOL.. Indeed it was very good and I can't wait until next time to try a different flavor!!!

Almost half eaten chesse cake brûlée
DAMN!!! All gone, no more cheese cake creme brûlée!!!;(
