Introducing the new Content Viewer music player

8th June 2021 by Category: News

We’ve quite literally jazzed up the Windows Content Viewer’s music player. It’s now easier to use and you don’t need to add songs to playlists before playing them.

The first thing you’ll likely notice is there’s just one Music tab on the main menu, previously we had “Music” and “Music Player” (ring any bells?). The new Music tab includes all the functionality of the previous two tabs in one simple screen. The songs you are currently playing are visible straight away and the options to search by artist, album, year and genre are now on the top right of the screen. The tab also contains all the usual bells and whistles on a music player, such as the option to create or delete playlists, pause and play songs, shuffle or loop tracks, and view a song’s cover art.

Two Factor Authentication

5th August 2020 by Category: News, Tips and Tutorials

Mobile device with 2FA code

Today we are adding an important extra security feature for Livedrive Backup, Briefcase and Pro Suite accounts called two factor authentication (2FA).

Livedrive 2FA works by requiring you to type in a code from a second device (usually a mobile) as well as your username and password. This adds an extra layer of security to your account, helping prevent unauthorised access to your account, even if an unwanted user gets hold of your password. This feature has been added to the latest versions of our consumer software. We suggest that all users turn this feature on.

Secret new Livedrive iOS feature

12th March 2020 by Category: News, Tips and Tutorials

At the end of 2019 we released some updates to the Livedrive iOS app and added one big new feature, did you notice it?

Our new feature is called “Scan”, it enables you to scan physical documents using your iPhone/iPad camera and store them on Livedrive.

When we spoke to customers in early 2019, we found many of you saw Livedrive as a great way to back up their physical documents as well as digital files. You were already scanning paper documents such as bank statements, birth certificates, passports and recipe books and then storing those files on Livedrive. We wanted to make this process easier and so we have introduced Scan as a simpler solution.

Scan is currently only available to Livedrive customers with an iPhone/iPad running iOS13 or higher. Customers must have a Livedrive account which includes a Briefcase – compatible accounts include Pro Suite, Business and Briefcase accounts.

If you don’t have the latest version of the iOS app installed, please download the Livedrive app from the App Store.

Livedrive iOS Dark Mode

5th February 2020 by Category: News, Tips and Tutorials

livedrive ios dark mode

Apple recently released Dark Mode for iOS, and today we have updated our Livedrive iOS app to support this new mode.

What is Dark Mode?

Dark Mode is a setting which darkens the interface on your iPhone or iPad, to present mostly light text on a dark background. This feature was included in the iOS 13 update and is supported by most native Apple apps, together with a growing number of 3rd party apps, now including Livedrive.

Why is Dark Mode useful?

Dark Mode has several advantages, a key one being that it reduces the amount of blue light emitted by the screen. Blue light can cause headaches, watery eyes and blurry vision. Some iOS users also welcome the visual change, finding that Dark Mode helps readability and makes photos stand out more within apps. Lastly, the mode could potentially increase battery life for devices with OLED screens, although Apple hasn’t officially published any figures confirming this.
