Bounce Sales & Marketing represent 40 independent children’s publishers to the trade both in the UK and overseas. From beautiful, award-winning picture books to bestselling YA fiction, colourful early learning board books to fun and insightful reference and non-fiction titles, Bounce has a children’s book for every age and every taste, while helping booksellers discover hidden gems and give their customers a bespoke range of titles perfect for their communities.
With 9 field sales representatives based around the UK and Ireland, and an 8 strong marketing, export and special sales team at head office, Bounce is well known for having the largest specialist children’s books sales team in the UK. We sell books into traditional accounts (bookshops, libraries and schools) as well as non-traditional accounts (such as gift shops, museum shops, farm shops and garden centre shops). We also supply all the online retailers, mail order companies and book clubs.

Bounce works with over a hundred specialist educational suppliers in the UK as well as bookshops. We always encourage schools to support these suppliers as they can offer so much more to suit your needs than even we can. But we recognise that on occasions it may not be possible to get the particular books you want from a third party so we can supply orders direct. As a sales and marketing agency, we’re afraid Bounce don’t accept manuscript submissions in any form, nor do we read them and send them on. If you’re an author looking to be published, head to our publisher section to see the publishers we represent and then try to contact them directly.
If you haven’t already, we suggest purchasing a copy of the latest edition of the Children’s Writers & Artists Yearbook from your local bookshop. It’s a great directory of agents and publishers, complete with contact details, submission strategies and what genres they’re interested in.
Unfortunately, we only represent publishers with multiple titles from multiple authors. We don’t represent individual authors. self-published or otherwise.

Bounce Sales and Marketing was founded in April 2002. At that time there was no specialist sales agency for Children’s Publishers even though the success of Harry Potter, government investment in literacy and the growth of chains such as Ottakars were all starting to increase sales of all kinds of children’s books dramatically. Independent UK Children’s Publishers were world leaders in selling co-editions throughout the world but often found the UK the last place that could sell their books.
We’ve always thought that was wrong and from the start we have tried to ensure that our publishers’ books reach the widest possible market both in the UK and the English language export markets. And over the last twenty years we’re proud to have done just that for Publishers as diverse as founder members like Barrington Stoke or newer recruits such as Weldon Owen Children’s and Townhouse Books. We have now – amongst other things – sold over £300m of books at retail value, won Awards for Excellence, supported our authors at festivals and events at home and abroad, maintained a regular presence at all the important trade and gift fairs, had the occasional major bestseller, visited over 50 countries to sell our publishers’ books – and have made a lot of friends in doing so.
We’re now a team of 21 sales people, all passionate about selling children’s books of all kinds to all retailers who share with us our belief that even in difficult times the children’s books published by our incredibly talented Independent publishers offer a real opportunity for sales growth, as well as fulfilling a vital role in maintaining a literate society.
