Philadelphia Eagles Re-Sign Jeremy Maclin to One-Year Deal

It's official: the Philadelphia Eagles have announced the re-signing of wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Maclin was scheduled to be a free agent at the start of the new league year, but now he will be staying with the Eagles for at least one more season. Maclin's new deal is reportedly worth up to $6 million over one year, with $3.5 million guaranteed.

It was reported yesterday that Maclin's camp preferred the one-year deal anyway. This way, Maclin can hope to put up big numbers in Chip Kelly's offense in 2014 so he can hit the free agent market again and earn a bigger deal after the season is over. The Eagles reportedly wanted to lock up Maclin for more than one year, but if that's true they didn't get their wish.

For now, though, the Eagles are very happy to see Maclin back. He was obviously a priority re-signing. The 25 year old receiver had his entire 2013 season before it even started when he tore his ACL in training camp. Riley Cooper, who signed a new with the Eagles on Thursday morning, filled in for Maclin during his absence.

Other teams will be disappointed to see Maclin didn't test the open market. According to Adam Schefter, the Broncos and Jets were preparing to make a run at Maclin when free agency started. Due to Andy Reid's presence in Kansas City, the Chiefs have always been thought of a possible landing spot for Maclin as well.

With the Maclin deal complete, the Eagles are generally done with taking care of their in-house offseason priorites (save for a new deal for Donnie Jones, which can't come until free agency starts).
