About Us

Originally from the Dala region, Samba São Miguel was founded in 1987 at the Sankt Mikael school in Mora which is where we get our name. The group later moved to Uppsala and is now based out of the iconic Västmanlands-Dala nation, one of the oldest and biggest student nations in Uppsala.

We strive to always be a place where anyone interested in samba can come to learn, play and have fun, regardless of prior knowledge or skill level. Our group is a mix of people from all over the world, students and non-students, those who have been playing for years and those who are new to samba; one thing we all share is a love for the vivid and energetic rhythms of Brazil!

Live performances and events

Together we perform at both public and private events in Sweden throughout the year, as well as participate in big samba festivals in Europe, such as in Coburg and Helsinki.

Join Us

We believe everyone should have the chance to experience samba, which is why our group is open to new members all year round, and don’t worry about having played before — we will teach you everything you need to know! We rehearse twice a week, as well as organize an open beginners’ group every autumn semester — check out our Facebook page for more information.
