Geothermal is our energy. It is a unique renewable energy source providing baseload electricity, heating, cooling, storage, as well as lithium and other mineral extraction. It rests reassuringly below our feet, homes, offices and factories everywhere. With the right political visibility and regulatory frameworks it will become the foundation of the cheap, local, inclusive and rapid energy transition.
EGEC is delighted to announce that registration is now open for the Geothermal Power conference on 3 July at the Sofitel Brussels Europe! This high-level event will be a unique experience featuring an inspiring, diverse programme complemented by networking sessions and social activities. These will provide participants with numerous opportunities to connect face-to-face with leading experts and foster vibrant discussions on the future of geothermal electricity, thermal storage and lithium.
Great news for companies looking to align with sustainable energy solutions! Geothermal Heating and Cooling Days 2024, to be held in Paris on 9-11 September, is now open for sponsorship opportunities. Your support is essential in making this event a success - be a vital part of organising it with us!
EGEC welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the Commission’s guidelines on designating renewables acceleration areas (RAAs) and highlight the following: Need for a fair evaluation of geothermal-based electricity A higher use of non-price criteria is needed Need for renewable energy auctions by technology Read the full EGEC Response. District heating and cooling networks are one of Europe’s top choices to phase-out fossil fuels in buildings, putting the EU well on track to achieve its climate and energy independence goals. In recent years, unprecedented momentum has built up to support the deployment of this essential energy infrastructure in Europe. Providing 20% of the EU heat demand with district heating and cooling would save 24 billion cubic meters of gas by 2030, representing 32% of the EU’s Russian gas imports in 2022. To achieve this, major investments are needed to build new district heating and cooling systems, gradually introduce clean, renewable heat sources and modernise Europe’s impressive district heating and cooling network infrastructure. It’s no small challenge, but it is above all a huge opportunity for the district heating and cooling industry to expand its markets, to innovate, and to drive the decarbonisation of Europe’s largest energy consuming sector. Time to meet, do business and scale up the heat transition! The 42nd edition of the Euroheat & Power Congress aims to provide our business and local communities with all the tools needed to make this happen. Register Now. EGEC Members: Get a Discount! A special perk: EGEC Members get a 10% discount on registration. Do you want to know more? Contact us at events@egec.org and receive your discount! Want to become a member?
