'Yes Otis we do'

 

'So you and me can live in this house together mamma but not Olive and Pappa, they have brown hair'

 

 

'Mamma, my friend at kindy has got yellow hair like me, we are the same'

 

 

'Mamma, I have got a friend who has got yellow hair and he like apples, just like me'

8 nights of quiet beach life was just what we needed! Otis recovered well after his operation and we are now weaning him off ice blocks. Riversdale beach is a short 2 hour drive from wellington, on the east coast. We hired a batch right on the beach and it reminded me of my childhood holidays in Blokhus and Skagen in Denmark. But as much as I love planning and packing for a holiday I also very much love coming back home again. It is great having family time and the chance to read books ( Can highly recommend 'a thousand splendid suns' ) but everyday life and routines are pretty good too...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Otis operation went well and he is now recovering in hospital with John over night! He has eaten half of the hospital already so most likely the will have to send him home tomorrow. I am glad today is over and that it all went well! Olive and I have just watched 'Olive the other reindeer' and we are now both ready for bed!

 

This beautiful little boy is going to the big scary hospital tomorrow to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out. It will all be good and he will bounce back quickly I'm sure. But of course I can't help feeling a little bit nervous. Otis main concern is that he is not allowed any food after midnight tonight. 'But I will be hungry mamma' Yes Otis, you will be hungry and the three hours between waking up and we finally sit down in the waiting room will be HELL. Try to make Otis go without food for any longer then 20 minutes and you'll know what I'm talking about.
