At the time it was written, some of the foods had GI ratings that seemed illogical or were inconsistent with info available elsewhere. This is explained as a result of incomplete testing. It seems that testing on a small group of people is not sufficient because various factors can influence blood sugar including exercise and what else is consumed with the food being tested.
There is plenty of good information in this book that make it worth a look especially if you do not have access to newer information. For one thing, the question and answer format is easy to understand, and the explanations are extremely well-written. I have read a couple of other books on low-GI diets and they are not as easy to comprehend as this one. Also, I have read several books and various articles on diabetes that were downright confusing and frustrating. This one stands out for being clear and helpful. So I do recommend looking for a newer version of this book in a Q&A format.
Eat lots of green peppers and cucumbers.
I do like that there is a glossary of the questions in the front so you immediately know where to skip.
From questions about prickly pear cactus and more, this book covers a lot of corners, and it explains things very well- breaking down the GI book stigma.
