Who's Who in the Superman Comics

Silver Age Superman

Golden Age Superman

The Golden Age Superman and the Earth-Two Superman are indeed two separate incarnations of the legendary icon. The biggest difference lies in their backgrounds: The Golden Age Superman got his start in superheroics as Superboy, and defended the town of Smallville. Additionally, as reporter Clark Kent, he briefly worked for the Daily Star and Cleveland Evening News before settling into the Daily Planet.

Throughout the Golden Age, Superman emerged as a crusader for justice and equality. He defeated gangsters, slumlords, corrupt politicians and smarmy businessmen. Superman championed a fair society and fought facism across the globe. Originally able to leap incredibly large distances, Superman learned to fly. In time, he accumulated a persistent group of villains that would become the first of Superman's Rogues Gallery:

  • Lex Luthor
  • The Ultra-Humanite
  • The Toyman
  • The Prankster
  • The Puzzler
  • J. Wilbur Wolfingham
  • The League to Destroy Superman
  • The Mechanical Monsters
  • The Arctic Giant
  • The Yellow Mask
  • Funnyface
  • Atom Man
  • The Mad Scientist
  • The Mummy
  • Swami Riva
  • The Scarlet Widow

And so many more attempted the overcome the original Man of Tomorrow!!!! Superman would prevail against them all, and this particular Superman would lead the way in shaping the legend of the world's first super-hero!
