Can you pass the primary school maths test?

Only one-in-20 British adults can correctly answer all 10 of these primary school maths questions. How would you do?

In a study of more than 2,000 mothers and fathers, just one-in-20 – five per cent, if fractions aren't your thing – were able to correctly answer the above 10 questions, which are designed to be suitable for pupils aged 11 and under.

Some 15 per cent of parents even struggled with a simple fractions question aimed at eight and nine year-olds. In all, a quarter of parents correctly answered just four out of 10 questions or less.

And over half of parents responding to the survey said they didn't understand the teaching methods used in the classroom.

See how you would fare by answering the timed, multiple-choice questions above, which range from Year 4 up to Year 7 ability – the final three years of primary school and the first year of secondary education.

The study coincided with the launch of a new Maths Made Easy resources pack – backed by Carol Vorderman – which allows parents and their children to test themselves on a range of age-specific questions.

As shown by the Telegraph's 2012 numeracy campaign – Make Britain Count Britain is currently ranked a lowly 28th in the world for mathematical achievement by secondary school pupils.
