14: New Rocket Technology Could Cut Mars Travel
Time: An agreement to collaborate on development of an advanced
rocket technology that could cut in half the time required to
reach Mars, opening the solar system to human exploration in the
next decade, has been signed by NASA's Johnson Space Center,
Houston, TX, and MSE Technology Applications Inc., Butte, MT.

1: Air-breathing Rocket Engine Technology Achieves Testing
Milestone: Engineers developing air-breathing rocket
propulsion technology achieved an important milestone in May. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., and its industry partner, Rocketdyne of Canoga Park, Calif., this month completed one hour of testing on an air-breathing rocket - or rocket-based, combined cycle - engine at the General Applied
Sciences Laboratory (GASL) in Ronkonkoma, NY.

23: Major Milestone Reached in X-37
Space Plane Project: Marking a major milestone in the X-37 project, an 85 percent
scale test vehicle of the experimental space plane was
delivered to NASA Friday for flight testing.
