Salvador Sánchez Céren of FMLN Wins Final Count
After the final review by the electoral tribunal (TSE) of Sunday’s presidential elections in El Salvador, Salvador Sánchez Céren of the FMLN wins the final count. The announcement of the final count at the conclusion of the review early this morning brings the FMLN a step closer to claiming victory. However, while the TSE has completed the final count that shows the FMLN winning by .22%, they haven’t declared an official winner. ARENA has submitted a resolution to annul the March 9 election because of fraud, though they have yet to present any evidence. All international observer delegations, including the UN, OAS, U.S. State Department, SHARE Foundation, and CISPES, have attested to a free and transparent election process with no reported cases of systemic fraud.
