Our rules

Currently we run three classes. These are GT2, Special, and Rally. As an addition we sometimes run an historic class (ie on our annual Christmas Mumma party). The new GT2 class is defined as open for all 1:32 models representing cars entered in the FIA GT class or ALMS, and no more than 2 years old. Exceptions can be made on the "could have existed" principle. Motors must be no other than the Mabuchi type S, (standard in Scalextric cars).

Chassis, tyres and everything else is, as you can see above, rather free.
Tyres should be standard Scalextric, SCX, Fly, Ninco or similar, today mostly Slot.It.

Special is, as the name implies, more free. The only constraints are the scale (also 1:32) and the visual appearance. We do not appreciate the intimidating looks of most of the lexan bodies available. Therefore we have stated that anything goes that look good. Or at least ok...

Rally finally, was initiated by the BSCC (Borensberg Slot Car Club). We soon took it to our hearts and started a series of our own. Cars must be off the shelf 4WD SCX´, or equivalent.
Surfaces varies, for winter races we use floods of wheat-flour and baking soda. For our Sahara rally we mixed it with chocolate and sawdust. We prefer chocolate-rallies, since baking soda tastes so bad when to clean the tires. Races are run one-on-one and timed, like the special stages in real rallies. The impressive prolonged powerslides on the loose surfaces provides extreme fun for both drivers and spectators.

On the picture above we run on an old Revell track.
Note "snow" spraying from rear wheel of the Seat!

Normally we run the SRSoWÖ GT- and Special-races as a series of many short heats. The reason is that we used to lack time- and lap-counting equipment. Therefore the races had to be short enough to keep an easy count, usually 4 to 5 laps. Since our tracks are all 4-lanes, we split the contestors into qualifying groups, preferably four of us in each. They will race each other twice on each lane. The winner of each group will start in the A-final, whereas the second goes to B and the two last goes to C. From the C-final the two best goes up to B- and the two best from B- goes to A-final.

Nowadays we have a computerized timing equipment on our largest track, the Malmgatan Autodrom, where we sometimes run endurance-races, i.e. as many laps as possible on a certain time, usually 15 minutes on each lane. We have also tried a more "Formula-1-"like approach with timed qualifiying. Every contestant is given five laps and of those the fastest counts, and the distribution to A-, B-, and C-finals as above is based on those fastest laps. This saves a lot of time on occasions with more than ten participants. A win in a race gives 16 points, a second is 12, a third 10 and so on down to the tenth who gets 1 point. In the VM-series (Vaster-masterskapen) which are the GT, Special and Rally, at least 75% of the accumulated results are counted at the seasons end.

Burnout!
Cleaning of tires is extremely important. In a sort of ritual everyone "burnout" on a damp dish-cloth before lining up.

The TOBE Cup is founded by the late Torbjörn "Tobe" Astervall, who made the challenge trophy, a motorized Bburago Bugatti Atlantic. The winner of this is the driver who has scored most points during the season, in all classes, no races excluded.

When asked why it was "Tobe" instead of the in Swedish more common "Tobbe" he said: "When I entered into this world the midwife called out: 'Isn´t it Tobe?' Called with one B. Tobe or not to be."

Of course we have a rulebook. Fast bara på svenska.
