Don’t know how to best utilize your front entryway or foyer? Here are fun and creative entryway and front hall decorating ideas that can be done even on a small budget.
You don’t need a lot of space to make the entry to your house or apartment special.
Front Hall Decorating Ideas
I love to imagine My Dream Home and to pin beautiful pictures to my Pinterest boards.
Today, I’m showing you eight fun, creative ideas for decorating an entryway, foyer, or front hall
Sadly, I don’t have an entry hall in my Blue Cottage — you step right into the living room/dining room with fireplace in my house – but that doesn’t mean I don’t dream of creating a beautiful entry in my future home.
Even if you don’t have a lot of space, you can make these front hall decorating ideas work in other rooms of your home, or even on a porch or patio.

This big hall tree is everything! I love all that storage space! You could buy a prefab, simple hall tree and add molding to it, and it will look like an expensive built in.
If you don’t have a gifted carpenter handy who can build you a cute hall tree, here is an inexpensive one from Amazon. I don’t have space for this, but I wish I did!
If you don’t want to look at your jackets hanging on the wall all year, then this is a great option: Add a bench with plenty of storage or a sideboard, and add inexpensive wall art.
What do you think of this idea? Why not use just frames for a neutral look? I love it.
This is just my style because you can can replicate it on any budget:
Simple: hang an inexpensive upper cabinet, find a little desk and paint it, buy a few colorful plates or pictures at a thrift store, and display a collection of little items. How sweet!
This wall desk is adorable and will make any small corner a functional spot because it takes up hardly any space and folds up when not in use.
Here are the plate hangers you can add to any pretty plate so you can hang it onto a wall. I’ve bought these but have so many plates, I can’t decide which ones to hang up. ha!
I’ve seen curtains like this used to divide rooms, which is such a clever idea.
In this example, the curtain is just a couple of feet away from the wall to hide coats, jackets, and shoes. That’s just genius! You could even hide a bike behind the curtain.
All you need is a pretty fabric shower curtain like this one. I use a cotton fabric curtain for my shower in the upstairs bathroom.
This one is so pretty as well:
Why not spruce up an entryway with a wall full of pictures in different sizes that have one thing in common? These are all black and white frames, which let’s you combine black and white and colored photos.
You can find inexpensive sets of frames online:
If you have a bit of space behind the door, the utilize it for storage! A little shelf or a simple coat rack, a mirror, and a wire basket make this a functional space.
I love this shiplap wall shelf. It’s such an easy way to add that shiplap look to your home for the farmhouse and cottage style that is so popular now. I like spots that I get to restyle often throughout the year, and this arrangement lets you play around with all kinds of decor items.
You can also recreate this look by adding shiplap to your front hall.
You can get thin stick-on shiplap or shiplap wallpaper like this one!
Do you have the space? Then why not add a bench to your front hall. I throw my things on our two green Ikea chairs when I get home, but I’m dreaming about a front hall like this one:
This bench would look lovely in any entryway:
This bench is also available in white:
This bench is available in white and brown/green.
I love everything about this entryway: the cream wall color, the tall wainscoting, the little table, and the glass door that lets in so much light.
There you have it: my 8 favorite entryway decor examples! Which one of these front hall decorating ideas inspire you to recreate them in your home?
It’s so hard to choose, right?

I love these ideas for a hallway, especially since so many of them use everyday things that have been re-purposed in creative new ways, and the hallway often ends up being a dumping ground in our house. If it looked this pretty them maybe my kids would think twice, or then again maybe not, LOL. Oh well it would be worth a try anyway

So many pretty ideas here Dagmar. If only my entryway were just a bit bigger. I would definitely add a bench and a place to hang things.

Hi. Any suggestions on where you could buy a bench seat like the one in the picture above with the little boy? I love that idea.

Look on wayfair or joss & main. that’s where I got mine. very rustic that could be used inside or outside. although I believe what they have used here is a church pew that you might could find at an antique store, flea market, etc.

I love the entry way and I am desperately looking to find this wide bead board in Washington State but I am having zero luck. Any suggestions?
Dagmar Bleasdale says
Hi Nancy, no, I don’t, but I’d google it or ask the same question in the Hometalk forum.

These are lovely entryways. I really like the idea of the curtain if you don’t have an entryway closet to hide coats and such. We have a bench inside our front door. I love it! I put my purse on my end and the kids lay their coats on it for me to hang them. Have a lovely week!
