Whether you are an experienced skier or taking your first ski holiday involving winter sports, then you will need to take out our ski and wintersports extension cover.

Not only will it cover you should you become ill or involved in an accident on the slopes but your equipment aswell. Plus should you arrive at your resort and find there is not enough snow on the pistes or risks of avalanches piste closure and avalanche cover is also included. Our policies can be purchased for one person, a couple or the whole family with flexible levels of cover.

If buying a single trip ski insurance policy you will be covered from the day you purchase your policy to when you get back home and can purchase your policy up to 18 months before your trip, so cancellation cover starts from the day you buy your insurance.

Covid-19 cover is standard on all our policies and will offer you protection against cancellation should you contract Covid-19 before your holiday and are unable to travel or should you contract Covid-19 whilst abroad.

Cover varies depending on the policy chosen but some key benefits of taking our winter sports extension cover is:-

Ski and Snowboarding Equipment

Your own or hired equipment will be insured against loss, damage or theft and your own equipment is also covered for delay if held up y your carriers.

Personal Liability

Personal liability cover is a must when taking part in winter sports to ensure you are coverered in the event of for example accidentally colliding with another skier or damaging any property whilst on the slopes. This cover varies by insurer so do check that the cover included will be sufficient as some policies contain exclusions.

Piste Closure

Your wintersports travel insurance policy provides pioste closure cover for insufficient snow or too much snow allowing you to claim up to a set amount each day if you can't ski or snowboard. Terms apply.

Off Piste Skiing

Off piste skiing on unmarked or ungroomed pistes or slopes is included on some of our policies as long as you do not ski alone and adhere to local ski safety and ski patrol guidelines and warnings. If the resort stipulates that skiing off piste must be with a ski guide or instructor, failure to adhere to this will exclude this cover. Other exclusions apply so please refer to your policy wording.

Older Skiers and Snowboarders

We can insure senior skiers and snowboarders up to age 75.

Wintersports Activities

When the additional premium has been paid to include wintersports cover it can additional activities and these vary between policies so please check first to ensure the activity you are taking part in is included within your policy.

Activities can include Big Foot Skiing, Snow Tubing, Toboganning, Glacier Walking (Under 4000 m), Heli Skiing with a guide and trips to Ski and Snowboarding Fun Parks plus many many more. As we work with a panel insurers just check the policy wordings for the full list or call our sales centre.

 

* There may be some people we are unable to cover if aged under 75 and wishing to take part in winter sports due to pre existing medical conditions such as osteoporosis, but medical screening will be able to determine this.
