This year has seen several of our famous and lovely dogs passing away at a very old age. The group winning Norwich Terrier, Int & Nordic Ch Cobby’s French Connection “Frisco” (Ch Cobby’s Billecart Salmon ex Cobby’s Fair Kate Nickleby) passed away in December at well over 14 years. We had happy news though that Frisco’s mother close to her 16th birthday is looking bright as a young dog. Well fit and long lived is what we expect of our Norwich Terriers.

Friscos lifelong companion, Sw Ch Rivale Musical “Martha” (GB & Int Ch Elve Sir Tarquin ex Rivale Pathetique) our beautiful girl from Finland and Johan Juslin & Hans Lehtinen has spent most of her life with Frisco so it was considered best to let her follow him, particularly as he has been her eyes for many years after she had an eye operation to adjust her tear production. Latest made up champion by Frisco is our red dog, Sw Ch Manfuls Man of Honour. Martha’s & Friscos C.C. winning daughter, Cobby’s Mistanguette had two puppies by Int Ch Cobby’s High Stakes; Ch Cobby’s Midas Touch and Ch Cobby’s Money Money Money and Money’s first borne daughter is Fantabulous Million Dollar Babe, born in Finland and it has pleased us very much to win 3 C.C.s with her from junior classes this year.

Nordic Ch Re d’Abruzzo Gerry

Scandinavia’s top stud in Lagotto, our lovely and sweet tempered Italian import, Nordic Ch Re d’Abruzzo Gerry passed away in late autumn. He was well over 14,5 years and the sire of 18 champions. His offspring has made a major impact on the winning Lagotto breeding in Scandinavia and his fabulous movement, as good in his old age as when he was a young dog and his superb thick curly coat and sweet disposition will keep him in the breed’s hall of fame for years to come. We have lost a lovely dog and the best nanny for puppies and youngsters one could ever wish for. Gerry was playing around with small Norwich Terrier puppies and their toys to the last minute when he was suddenly hit by stroke. Devastating yes, but I am grateful to have had the pleasure to live with this lovely dog for so long.

Cobby’s Credenza, her old self again!
PHOTO  by Torsten Widholm©

Last week end in May, at Österbybruk Int., saw Marita & Olle Billströms Lagotto, Cobby’s Credenza “Kelly” (Ch Rowntree Fabrizio ex. Cobby’s Cocca) win her second C.C. A lovely occasion as Kelly has been out of the ring for almost a year after the dreadful, unprovoked attack on her by two mail bull-molossoids at a show ground just as she left the ring after winning her first C.C. She could now be seen being her old happy self with wagging tail and no glancing over the shoulder. Well done Marita! It was also a day with a very sporting crowd at the ringside, many showing with sincere clappings how pleased they were to se that Kelly had got over the accident.

The house, Villa Björklunda (Villa Silver Birch Grove), home of the Cobby’s for the last 40 years, celebrates its centennial as it was built in this shape in 1910. The house has been lovingly mentioned in novels, books and Magazines by one of its former owners, Kerstin Thorvall, a famous author in Sweden who passed away in 2010.

Sw. Ch Waleric Pearly King

We have very unexpectedly lost our charismatic pinky, Waleric Pearly King. “P.K.” took desperately ill from one minute to another. When we arrived at the Animal hospital he could barely stand on his legs and tests carried out was devastating. The cause was said to probably be an infection that had gone too far before this hardy, outgoing chap showed any signs of ill health. P.K. was the last Norwich Terrier Ann Forman bred before she gave up breeding because of ill health. I will always be grateful for her kindness to carry out this combination to my wishes. P.K. was linebred to GB & Int Ch Cobby’s Timothy Gyp and became the living image of Gyp, in character in particular. His most famous offspring is GB & Am Ch Ragus Got the Look, top winning female Norwich in UK in 2009.

He was 14 on the 6th of January and is of course litter brother to the breeds Top Brood, Sw & DK Ch Cobby’s Tartufo di Cioccolata sadly missed as she passed away a few month ago. Their mother lived to be over 14 and the line is known to live to a good age and another proof is, ‘Lagotto of the year 2009’ at the age of 10, Corrado’s half sister, multi Ch Cobby’s Cirena!
