CAN I VISIT THE SET OF THE STREET?

Please note that the Granada Studios tour is currently closed to the general public (last updated October 2005). If you find out otherwise, do let me know.

However, it was reported in the UK national press on Monday 13 October, 2008 that the Street set could be re-opened to coincide with Corrie's 50th anniversary in 2010. The quote below comes from an article from The Guardian.
"ITV is also planning to reopen the Coronation Street set in Manchester to the public with behind-the-scenes tours."

Canadian fans: The World of Coronation Street Tour is located in Toronto, Canada and runs trips to the Coronation Street set every September.
The tour visits various outdoor locations in the Manchester area, a private group dinner with a Coronation Street Star as well as a coveted visit to Granada Studios.  The website is http://www.kemptvilletravel.com or the tour exclusive website is http://www.coronationstreettour.com.

WHAT DO THEY MEAN WHEN THEY SAY... ?

ANSWERS TO THOSE TRULY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What's a ginnel ?
It's a narrow passage or lane between terraced houses

Why did Jim McDonald call Alec Gilroy "Sandy" ?
Sandy is short for Alexander

Why did Fred Elliot ask for a "Scotch and threat" in the Rovers ?
He's asking for his whisky with just the slightest hint (a threat) of water

What and where is the Red Rec?
The Red Rec is short for the "Red Recreation Ground". Recreation grounds can be anything from a bit of tarmac with a children's play area (a few swings, roundabout, helter skelter, etc) through to huge grassed areas where football (soccer) pitches are marked out. In the case of the Weatherfield Red Rec, the 'Red' comes from the surface which is either red shale or crushed bricks packed down very tightly - but there is also a large grassed and woodland park area.

What was the name of Minnie Caldwell's cat?
Bobby

WHERE HAS THIS ACTOR, ACTRESS, CHARACTER GOT TO ?

First, try looking at the actor and character indexes of the corrie.net website.

There may also be gossip in the Weatherfield Recorder pages of corrie.net.

If they don't help try ratucs - the rec.arts.tv.uk.coronation-st newsgroup. Someone there is normally able to help - with any kind of Corrie query!
