Compare cameras, now with interchangeable Lenses

We are proud to present a new major update to camerasize.com, which allows you to compare digital cameras side by side, together with interchangeable lenses for Mirrorless and DSLR cameras, and those which support interchangeable lenses.

In order to attach a lens, you’ll have to view the cameras from “Top” view. When a specific camera support interchangeable lenses, you will see a link above the camera and an a Lens icon beneath the camera. Click this link or icon will bring a popup window with the available lenses (we are adding more each day), which are compatible with the camera.

For some camera bodies you can add a specific adapter (ie, Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds), which will update the lens’ list with compatible lenses.

Here are the current available features:

  1. Attach or detach a lens from the camera
  2. Attach and adapter (where applicable and available, more will be added soon)
  3. Share a specific comparison, including the cameras, attached lens & adapters and the specific view the cameras, including the sorting order

The new update is an extension to the current Compact camera meter webapp that we’ve introduced a few weeks ago.

You can help us extend the amount of available lenses by uploading your own lens photos via this upload page.

We are still working in improving and finalizing the app. We are working on a new update in parallel that we will introduce very shortly.

I hope that you’ll find this new update useful for comparing digital cameras and lenses online.

CameraSize.com developer.

I’ve made a short video which explains all the available features you can explore in “Camera Compact Meter”.  I also set up the video on the main page, so new visitors can quickly understand how to use the UI, even if they aren’t familiar with this kind of user interface. Of course you can embed and share this video on your blog (if you want to write a nice article about the new application :).

New Features for Comparing Size of Digital Cameras (Dev Talk)

image
In this article I want to talk about why we have decided to launch this update to CameraSize.com. Those who are into digital photography and gadgets in general, you probably had an urge to compare one gadget versus another, in terms of size and general look.

When I browsed photography forums or camera review’s websites, I’ve seen many times that people upload their own photos where they put two or more digital cameras one next to the other.  In many cases, people want to compare the size of multiple cameras, not just two. The first comparison application allowed to compare only two cameras (although it still offer more detailed specs’ comparison information).

Multiple Digital Cameras Comparison - Camera Compact Meter

We are very happy to announce a new update to CameraSize.com website. We’ve heard and read your feedback about the site. We called the new app “Camera compact meter”, because it lets you comprehend the compactness of a camera, relative to other cameras.

So what’s new in this new Camera Size comparison webapp?

  1. Compare multiple digital cameras side by side (virtually infinite number of cameras)
  2. Use a slider to change the size of the cameras, all at the same time. This is used for small display or those who want to view as many cameras on the screen
  3. Change side views for all cameras with one click (front, rear, right, left and top)
  4. Order cameras by Height, Width, Depth and Weight. Click once from small to large and second time to order cameras from the largest to the most compact one
  5. Easily scroll the cameras by using the mouse wheel or by moving your mouse over the large arrows at the right and left sides of the page
  6. Share a specific comparison (with the order function) on Twitter, and generate a short link to a specific comparison with a single click

We are still working on some final optimization and retouching, but the page is online and ready for you to use and explore.

We know that many of you wanted to compare the size of multiple cameras side by side, not just two. The ‘Camera Compact Meter’ is all about visual comparison, clean and simple!

when you add more cameras, you might not see them because they are added outside your screen, so just use the arrows or your mouse wheel button to scroll left and right to view all cameras.

'Camera Compact Meter’ is currently on beta and we are still working on more improvement, and of course more unique and useful features that you want to see.

We hope that you like this new update. If you have questions and found some bugs, please drop us an email to admin@camerasize.com.
