As of October, 2013, a "Vetter Owners Group" has been organized. I will check in once in a while to add what I can.

The last Vetter fairing was sold in the early 1980s! That is getting to be a long time ago.

1971: End of the Phantoms and beginning of Windjammers
I spent the winter of 1970-71 developing one fairing design that would fit all motorcycles and named it the Windjammer. When the Windjammer was introduced, nobody wanted the above fairings and production ceased. Over the next eight years, over 400,000 Windjammers would be produced in six variations.

Pre-Windjammer Serial numbers
A note about serial numbers: I wanted to be able to identify my fairings with serial numbers but I did not want anyone else to be able to figure out how many I was making.

From the first Vetter fairing of Oct.1966 thru June 1969, I scratched numbers into the fiberglass, behind the windshield foam tape.

From June 1969 thru the end of 1969, I scratched an "A" prefix to the number. We made about 325 "A" fairings

"B" prefix in 1970. We made about 796 fairings "B" fairings

"C" prefix in 1971 until September we made about 1300 "C" fairings when production of the one piece Vetter fairings ceased.

Windjammer Serial numbers
The first Windjammers began in September, 1971 with hand scratched in serial numbers. Beginning November, 1971, aluminum plates with serial numbers were attached with pop rivits. None of the fairings after that first Windjammer began with any kind of recognizable beginning number. This may seem odd, but at least twenty other companies made copies of my designs. Had they known how many I was making, there would have been hundreds of copy fairings!
