What is it about early kick offs? They really are a travesty in the modern game with absolutely no thanks to the corporate greed of BT Sport and Sky. Frankly there is nothing worse than an early lunchtime kick off to kill the atmosphere at a game. It’s just too early for football and leaves not enough time in the pub.

For me there is a direct correlation there – early kick off – less time in the pub – poor atmosphere.

None of this has helped with our nominations for Chant of the Match this week. You could have heard a pin drop at the Bridge for the first half apart from a few muffled attempts at “In Your Liverpool Slums” , “Sign On” and as the tension rose and the supporters understood the need to get behind the team, a fairly decent “Chelsea” (clap clap clap). In fact tension and audible frustration seemed to be noteworthy than any singing as Chelsea made wave after wave of attack and looked to be squandering chance after chance to bag the three points.

But, sensing the effort the team were putting in the MHL in particular got up as one and started to get behind the team vocally – bashing on the hoardings to generate more noise and exhort the team to victory with one of my favourites: “Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea, Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea”.

But when JT put the ball in the back of the net the tension lifted and the roof came off with a bellicose “Double Double Double John Terry has won the Double”. A fitting end to the game and a fitting nomination for the Chant of the Match.

Am I missing something here, is this some sort of sophisticated London wind up that is over our Northern heads??
……exhort the team to victory with one of my favourites: “Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea, Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea”.
    The lyrics are inspired.

After a lacklustre performance it’s no surprise that all you can write about is your favourite chant. And what a deliriously funny one it was. Dear oh dear. Mindless buckwits.

  6. scouse says:

Chelsea fans really are a bunch of brain dead smug bellends arnt they, theres no chant of the day at stamford bridge because the inbred stuck up farts wouldnt know wit if it smacked them in their buck teeth, yar yar

  7. Eddie O'B says:

Ha Ha Ha ” In your Liverpool slums” and ” sign on, sign on” so hilarious and so 80’s. Obviously the prawn eating brigade etc at Chelsea can’t think of any up to date chants.

  8. Steve frixou says:

“Buy us a win abramovich abramovich buy us a win diving diving” !!

  9. Adrian says:

Not the greatest atmosphere, certainly not helped by the fact that Everton fans are some of the most fickle, classless and quiet bunch I have EVER heard. And I though Arsenal fans were bad… Small club Everton, must be sad to be second tier on Merseyside since their inception.

    • Tomo says:

and if you know your history… Liverpool FC were only born when Everton had a rental disagreement with the owners of Anfield and moved out. We left, built our own ground and Liverpool were born. Everton being a “small” club is hardly factually accurate either, more silverware than Chelsea I think you will find. Maybe you can buy titles these days, but you can’t by history or class

    • Ben Walker says:

Been supporting Chelsea since 2003ish have you?????

4 league titles and some of them where recent.

    • billy says:

Hahaha, a chelsea fan thinking they have some kind of history, it would take youse another hundred years to match Evertons illustrious past

When roman wants his £600 million back and the brown stuff hits the fan these posh little wannabees will disappear back under there rocks

      No history no class

  10. Daniel Francisco says:

Changed me mind about the song has got to be ” He Stands Where He Wants ” when Jose was on the pitch cause only he can class .

  11. mark says:

  12. Ben Walker says:
