Overview

Synopsis

It's not unusual for alcoholic cop Lou Garou to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings, but lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar. Lou's senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he's a rage-fueled werewolf. WOLFCOP is one cop's quest to become a better man...

One transformation at a time.

nice SPFX and makeup....i know there's a nitch for these things, but i dont think cinecoup legacy is gonna start with a horror/monster/blood fest....i hope it promotes content over grotesque. hope if this happens it goes way cheese and funny like a bruce cambell flick.....

You’re going too succeeded regardless of the competition due to your success around the world. But I would never see this in a theatre. I wouldn’t even pick it up on bluray. It’s because the idea is so strange and childish that I just don’t fall in its demographic. He’s a cop but he doesn’t play by the rules because he is a wolf. It’s well shot, its actor is amazing, and I have to give credit to the makeup artists but its plot is just not for me and that’s why I can’t give it a proper review because I’m just not part of this films demographic. Good Luck

I'm really torn with this movie. The initial trailer itself has some wonderful moments: great acting, great use of music to set the scene, great lighting/FX, and great makeup job, to name a few. What I feel is lacking is a compelling story. So he's a cop who turns into a werewolf and uses this to fight crime - but then what? Does he try to get back to his human state? Does he tackle the big crime boss in town? I don't see where this story is going to take me, and I feel like it spent too much time on the bar scene, when it should have been elaborating the story/concept further.

My Official Review of #Wolfcop is going to make Dirty Harry look like a "nice guy" after this Horror Fantasy reaches Cineplex Theaters in 2014.

Writer/Director Lowell Dean and Producer Bernie Hernando showcase a good story-line featuring a twist from other horror movies - A Wolf Cop!

Their initiative branding of Wolfcop will spread like wildfire on the Cineplex Screen and I can already see sequels or even a TV series. It's sure to become one of your favorite movies.

Just a little warning : Don't accept the cookies from the sweet little old lady - it just may turn you into a Wolfcop :)

The visual effects, lighting, and cinematography were excellent, the only thing I thought was a bit weak was the lack of any dialogue in the trailer. It would have been good to see a bit more about the cop, to get to know him better, and a bit less scenes of the waitress/ bar fight.

Stereotypical, overemphazied special effects and violence. I hope the actuality focuses more on the personality of characters, that whats makes a good monster movie, especially with werewolves, the issues and challenges they have to overcome as an loner in society, someone who is an outcast but struggles to know what it is to be human, or unhuman.

Overall well done. Nothing groundbreaking here but I like the comedic take, although this left me unsure of if this film is focusing more on the comedic aspect or the horror aspect. Big problem for me was the acting of the girl who was being abused, she constantly looked like she was about to burst out laughing and I found it incredibly distracting. Great work otherwise!

As long as it doesn't take itself too seriously it looks like it could be a great bit of fun, like the Evil Dead movies. Forget the CGI and polished look, just go for some great gorey classic effects and some good story telling. That's what it looks like this could provide.

This movie looks like it will have great appeal among the comedy/horror cult fandom crowd. Love the fact you went with more of a "Lon Chaney" werewolf look instead of the "Howling" full fur upright wolf costume. The monster look you chose is far more fitting for this film. Looks fun, I'd love to see it!

Great production values and camera work. The concept is so cheese-ball, it wasn't until the last couple of shots that I was sure that the filmmakers were in on the joke too. If they can sustain the right balance of camp and horror, with ample werewolf gore, then this film have tremendous potential.

I don't know about this. I feel like either the trailer didn't know what it wanted to be (going from horror to humor), or maybe it's just the mythos is being turned in a way that doesn't fit. Warewolves traditionally being incarnations of our own primal emotions and rage doesn't make it follow that they'd know how to drive or save ladies. Could be interesting, but unfortunately I'm not seeing a lot here, and Grindhouse type movies haven't been doing well lately.

The initial trailer was enjoyable in a modern day camp style. It harkens back to The Warriors in a way, despite the date difference. Having a protagonist who is left without a detailed background at first is another good sign of that.

The idea of man-versus-self is well-treed ground in werewolf stories, although I've only read one story that deals with a police officer who is such a creature. It's a unique idea, and should be explored.

My only concern, and why I didn't rate at a 10, is there was no hint of the human form of the werewolf being given as much personality as the werewolf form. I look forward to being proven wrong however.

Good luck on this project.

This trailer is amazing up until he turns into a wolf. (But don't get me wrong... it's still pretty amazing)
To sum it up what you guys have here is what you should have entered into that Tarantino/Rodriguez "Grindhouse" trailer competition.
- The trailer visually looks top notch. The camera work, the composition, the lighting, the acting. It's all.... dare I say.... perfect. I would imagine the team that you guys have assembled are no rookies in the film biz.
- The practical special effects implemented are beyond brilliant. I am a fan of all film genres but I have been particularly partial to horror flicks. Nothing grinds my gears more than a CGI laden B-movie. A huge contributing factor to campy movies such as this is the blood/gore factor.... when this is done virtually, it takes every level of human emotion out of it... to put it bluntly, you're effects are the dogs bollocks.... (the wolf's bollocks?)
- The problem with this trailer is that not everyone will get it. (I realize that this is a horror/comedy. It's a film that makes you laugh each time the ante is upped. "Oh my god! Can you believe that just happened!?" kinda vibe...right? Well, I don't know how you guys personally felt about "Machete" but that was kinda the same thing. A crazy over the top grindhouse flick that showed all of the bits that made it funny/crazy in the trailer and ended up producing a shitty feature length film that was literally impossible to get into. I wish there was some middle-ground between making a spoofy horror, a black comedy and something with a compelling plot device.
- After he turns into wolfcop, you should have ended the trailer. Wolfcops on screen too long and it gives the viewer too much time to pick him apart. The costume is awesome but the idea of a werewolf in a cop outfit is a little silly... obviously you guys knew that or else you wouldn't have made this movie. Not to mention it also gets a little boring. Less is more.... sometimes.
Overall I loved the trailer, it had me laughing and in awe of your beautiful imagery. I hope this thing gets its due respect. But be careful fellas... these movies are cool but to a definitely diminished crowd.

Best of luck!

I'm always excited to see heroic werewolves on the screen but, while I don't want another humorless downer like Underworld going around, I do hope you develop some serious lore and rules for this without just relying on gore and gags. The move doesn't need to be serious, but hopefully the story is placed above anything else.

Anyone who knows me, knows my favorite movies are those campy, gory horror movies from the 80’s. They didn’t have a huge budget and the effects weren’t polished, but they were super creative with what they had, there was a sense of fun and enthusiasm that you just didn’t get from slick big budget productions, and a lot of that budget went to what mattered: gallons and gallons of fake blood. These filmmakers weren’t doing their jb for a paycheck or for box office glory - there were no illusions about that - they did it because they loved the genre. I’m talking stuff like the Evil Dead series, Re-Animator, anything from Charles Band, you get my drift.

That’s why I’m excited about WOLF COP and I get more excited the more I see about it. It’s not trying to be all grim and “serious” (yawn) like Underworld, and it’s certainly not catering to the wet-pantied Twilight crowd who prefer their werewolves to switch between buff, shirtless and hairless runway models and an oversized Balto plushie. No, that is a human actor with some latex and yak hair glued to his face slinging goopy rubber organs all over the place, and it’s awesome.

Ambitious work! Campy black humour (still surprised people are having trouble seeing the comedy in this) and gory horror... Can definitely see the influences of the Horror Comedies of the 80's. Great to see Saskatchewan's presence in this competition!

I had to double check and make sure that it was not a comedy because I could not take it seriously. A bit heavy on the blood and I just don't enjoy movies that have demonic elements to it.

EXCELLENT! This movie just became #3 in my top 10. Huge production values, campy retro feel to teen wolf without being cheesy. The music works, the suspense works, the gore is GRUESOMELY GREAT!

In the post-modern age of Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, and the lackluster grindhouse revival, I can safely say: No thank you.

Very well done trailer in all ways but the concept.

I admire the bravery of going full gore/prosthetics for an independent trailer. The camera angles were a bit contrived. I like the premise, but it looks like another bad horror film, and as fun as those are, this competition is about something more I hope.

Fantastic opening - great visuals, superb special effects, hooks the viewer immediately. However, both the trailer and synopsis fail to deliver a story, so I'm left wondering if this is more than a concept created by talented special effects artists. The genre tags are horror/fantasy, but the bar scene and Dark Knight reference play more like a comedy. Great start, disappointing finish.

Hey guy its Shane, self proclaimed #1 fan from the USA. Don't remember how I stumbled upon this but thank lord I did. Simply amazing. Landis would be proud of that wolf hand effect. Wishing all the best of luck. No matter what happened make Wolf Cop. We need Wolf Cop.

you lost me when the wolf came out, with the limited resources you had and the tone built up prior to that scene, definately should have stuck to a "horror in the shadows" keeping him hidden for the most part. also the music for the bar fight was horrid. some great cinematography but a terribly, campy, lame end despite the joker nod.

Different. Student film mentality. Why do people with talent not look at the present and future of professional film production? If it has been made (Zombie Films) - it is too late (or too early) to repeat it, even with a twist. Find the right genre to appeal to audiences (of the next year) or something original to lead the audience to a new genre. The trailer shows an ability.

The production value and special effects in this trailer are exceptional, the weakness lies in the concept. In light of the recent Hollywood "culture craze," werewolves have been overdone to the point of physical pain. I understand how this attempted to marry two very different genres, but I don't think it has been done effectively.
