Blog about Barbet Yatzie & Moët

My life with the French waterdogs Yatzie born 2007 and her daughter Moët born 2011. Barbets are purebred, active, relaxed and allergy friendly dogs with a soft and loving spirit. I am Swedish but live with my dogs in Holland. I hope you will enjoy the blog! Enlarge the photos by clicking on them.

Yatzie left us on December 2 2021. The pain is unbearable, and life will not be the same without her.
Yatzie was a remarkable dog. She changed my life. She helped me feel again when I was broken hearted. Made me laugh and play. Brought me new friends, made me find my loving husband and took me on countless adventures. She opened the hearts of many and showed us what unconditional love is. She took every given opportunity to share her love, not only with her beloved family but also with every stranger that came on her path. On my birthday 10 years ago she gave me the prettiest little gift, Moët, and another 9 cuddles of love. Yatzie and Moët became best friends and playmates. Yatzie helped me find my passion, lured me into becoming an entrepreneur (barking without stopping on her first day away from me: “you are not gonna put me in any kind of day pension mum!”), in corporate communication at first, which lately developed into working with communication with dogs. She taught me to be more in the present, by coming to ask for a cuddle throughout the day and by being the perfect example of the art of living “here and now”.
A few years ago Yatzie developed some issues with her liver. We found a delicious diet that she did well on together with natural medicines. Once in a while she did not feel like eating and we started worrying. But after a few days her appetite was back. Her sight and hearing deteriorated, like it often does in older dogs. She had light arthrosis. She was always a very stubborn dog, and when she did not feel like going out she made it clear, so Moët and I started taking the longer walks just the two of us, at least a few times a week.

Two days ago I planned to take Moët out alone, but Yatzie came running and said I want to come along! I was surprised when she after the walk around her favourite little lake she asked for yet another round. And one more. I could not believe it but was thrilled to see her so cheerful and fit. Content after a full and happy day we all went to sleep in our bedroom, close together as we always have.

In the early morning Yatzie was struck by an epileptic seizure. When we arrived at the emergency she had almost recovered but was still not fully herself. Two hours later at home she had another seizure, and before we arrived at our veterinary she had several more. I held her in my arms to calm and comfort her, it was scary for both of us. But it was very clear to us that the time had come to release her with love to the other dimension, the mystic place that we do not know much about but that I am convinced we all will experience in its full glory one day. Until that day you are always with me in my heart my darling and soulmate Yatzie, my light on earth, my inspiration and comfort. I will miss you tremendously. I will always love you.

Yatzie and Moët wish all their blog fans a Happy Easter!

Yatzie, so close to my heart - today you turn 12!

Congratulations to our sweet Merveille that got an Excellent at the Dutch Barbet Clubmatch today! 75 barbets showed up for this yearly event and it was great to see so many different barbets all together.

Moët gave birth to her brown Miracles 3 years ago -  a litter of very sweet and sensitive pups, all with a lot of humour! We send them a big Happy Birthday greeting!

It has been 7 years since Yatzie had her first litter, born on my birthday! A better present one can not imagine! A big hurray we send around the world today to all the sweet first borns!

From the Champagne litter the first puppy born was Moët and she stayed with us! What a wonderful 7 years we have had, filled of so much laughter and fun, so many cuddles and love from this brown funny little girl and her mum Yatzie. As a reminder here is the compilation of all the little Champagne bubbles just before they left their first home.

Hurray for my sweet and strong Yatzie!!

We wish you all a Happy Easter!

On February 9 2014 Yatzie gave birth to 10 little Angels and today we celebrate their 4 year birthday! They are all such fun and gorgeous barbets! I share a film I just received with Billie (Muriel) in Sweden, in the cross country skiing track in the forest with her boss Joakim! Heja Billie!
