Sub 5kg Canyon: Ultimate CF EVO 10.0 The Lightest Canyon Yet

Starting their most ambitious project to date with the question “How close can we get to creating the perfect road bike?”, Canyon have released the Ultimate CF EVO 10.0, a 4.96kg roadbike.

With an ultralight 665g frame and 270g fork, the company says their is no compromise on the stiffness, comfort and durability that has seen the Ultimate on the top step of several Grand Tour podiums.

Their lightest, most technically advanced frameset ever, Canyon have used the latest state-of-the-art materials, previously unused in the industry, to create the latest generation frame and fork.

“For over a decade, the Ultimate CF SLX has represented the pinnacle of Canyon road bike engineering,” Canyon said in the product release.

“Uniting all key performance factors – unprecedented stiffness-to-weight, energy-boosting compliance, and watt-saving aerodynamic efficiency – the Ultimate CF SLX is heralded as one of the most complete road bikes on the scene.”

Next Generation Materials

According to the company the ultra-high modulus pitch-based carbon fibres required special access permission from the Japanese Ministry of Defence.

“These fibres enable the Ultimate CF EVO to deliver previously unheard of levels of stiffness and responsiveness at its incredibly low weight,” say Canyon. “Each part of the bike, from its fork to its seatpost to its integrated cockpit, has been subjected to the same tests and standards as the rest of the Ultimate range, to create a bike that is meant for the roads, not the trophy case.”

Two factory builds of the new model will be available –  the 4.96kg Ultimate CF EVO 10.0 SL and 5.8kg CF EVO 10.0 LTD. The Ultimate CF EVO will also be offered as a full frameset giving die-hard weight weenies the opportunity to build to their heart’s content.

The fully assembled SL model is listed on the Canyon website for 10,000 Euros with the LTD model 13,000 Euros. The frameset is listed at 3,300 Euros.
