| The original iPhone 2G has an indicator that is normally white at the base of its headphone jack. The newer 3G, 3GS, and 4 have indicators both in the headphone jack, and on the bottom of the dock-connector where you charge your iPhone. |
| The best way to check for water damage on an iPhone is to look at the indicator is by aiming a flashlight or lighted magnifying glass into the headphone jack. If the iPhone has been submerged in liquid, or has suffered any liquid damage, this circular indicator will turn red or pink. If the sticker has changed colors, the repair is most likely not covered by the warranty. | If Your iPhone Gets Wet, Here's What You Should Do: |
| 1. Immediately turn off your iPhone. Do not turn it back on, charge it, or connect it to a computer or other charging device. This can cause the water damage to short an electric circuit within your iPhone causing further damage. |
| 2. Immediately hand dry your phone as best you can with a soft cloth. Also remember to remove your SIM card and pat down any excess moisture and wipe out the headphone and charge ports. Sometimes using a rolled up tissue or q-tip to lightly dry hard to reach areas helps as well. |
| 3. Next, quickly place the phone in a bag of uncooked rice (trust us!) and let it sit for 24-48 hours in a cool, dry place. You can also add silica packages to the rice to further the absorption process. The rice will absorb any moisture that remains inside the phone. |
| 4. After 48 hours have passed, remove your phone, re-insert your SIM card, and try to turn it back on. If it powers on you just saved yourself a whole lot of money and stress. |
