Human Endometrial Angiogenesis

An Immunohistochemical Study of the Endometrial Expression of Angiogenic Growth Factors and Their Corresponding Receptors

Endometrium Immunohistochemistry

The human endometrium is essential to female reproductive function. Endometrium, the inner mucous lining of the uterus, constitutes the surface where the fertilized egg implants.

Immunohistochemistry is the technique where substances, such as growth factors, in sections of tissue are localized by use of specific antibodies. This technique has been central throughout my PhD studies.

Angiogenesis   Image analysis

Angiogenesis, the new building of blood vessel from existing ones (Folkman, 1985).

There are numerous interesting angiogenic growth factors discovered.

However I have focused on a few of them. Read more

 

I have used image analysis to quantify immunohistochemical stainings. Additionally, performed morphometric or stereological analyses on tissue samples stained for blood vessels. Read more

Western blot
 

I have worked with SDS-page in order to detect angiogenic peptides in endometrial tissue. Additionally to verify the function and specificity of different antibodies.
