Lambing

We currently have about fifty ewes, and we expect the lambing to take place early May. The lambs will be born on green grass, and they will be able to eat fresh green grass as soon as they have grown old enough to do so, usually a couple of weeks after birth. Our lambs are 100% ecological, and will not be fed grain at all. They will only graze on our own ecological pastures and fields and they can go into our sheephouse when they want to do so.

We shear our sheep in April in preparation for the lambing.

The lambing is an exciting period filled with lots of wonders of life. In fact, we're expecting appoximately 80 lambs if all goes well. For our guests in May it is possible to see this up close and even to participate for those wishing to do so. During the summer our guests will enjoy watching the lambs frolic and play and pet them. You can even have a picnic in their scenic pasture surrounded by curious lambs.

How do we round up and move our sheep?  Well, it wouldn't be possible without our Border Collie Kenzo. He loves working with sheep, and he is very, very fast. He also loves being petted and to be with people.

Below are some photos showing last years lambing in April that we hope you enjoy.
