A Nurse's Prayer

Give me strength and wisdom,

When others need my touch;

A soothing word to speak to them,

Their hearts yearn for so much.

Give me joy and laughter,

To lift a weary soul;

Pour in me compassion,

To make the broken whole.

Give me gentle, healing hands,

For those left in my care;

A blessing to those who need me,

This is a Nurse's prayer.

Nursing Prayers

And other Nursing Poems

Nurses Prayer

Dear Lord, please give me strength,
To face the day ahead.
Dear Lord, please give me courage,
As I approach each hurting bed.
Dear Lord, please give me wisdom
With every word I speak.
Dear Lord, please give me patience,
As I comfort the sick and weak.
Dear Lord, Please give me assurance,
As the day slips into night.
That I have done the best I can,
That I have done what's right.

Nurses Prayer

As I care for my patients today
Be there with me, Oh Lord, I pray.
Make my words kind - it means so much.
And in my hands place your healing touch.
Let your love shine through all that I do,
So those in need may hear and feel You.

A Nurse's Prayer

Let me dedicate my life today,
in the care of those who come my way.
Let me touch each one with healing hand,
and the gentle art for which I stand.
And then tonight when day is done,
Let me rest in peace,
If I've helped just one.

and to soothe each heavy heart.
May my touch being reassurance.
May my voice be soothing too,
May my gentle care remind them
Of the love they have in You.

Nurse

For bringing warmth and
comfort into everything you do,
For finding time to add
an extra touch of kindness too,
For patience in the midst
of busy hours with little rest,
For taking pride in all you do
and giving it your best,
May you be forever blessed.

You're a Nurse...

You're a nurse,
I'm a nurse,
a kind of sisterhood,
I see.
For blood sisters
wisdom bear the
burden of our crisis'
days past and to be.
It takes true sisters
of the heart to tend
and to care,
and to grow a
plant so incredibly rare.

Nursing
-a career not measured in years but in moments
A victorian crazy quilt,
a nursing career,
what do they have in common?
Rich fabric, fragmented,
held together by
heart and by hand.
Elaborately embelished
with unforgettable moments.

Fine art.
Painstakingly executed,
A work in progress,
often unfinished.
Chaotic yet controlled.
And symentry...
the whole is greater
that the sum of it's parts.
In the end,
we will not remember
the years we spent in nursing,
We will remember
only the moments.

Nursing is an Art

Nursing is an art:
and if it is to be made an art,
It requires an exclusive devotion
as hard a preparation,
as any painter's or sculptor's work;
for what is the having to do with
dead canvas or dead marble,
compared with having to do
with the living body,
the temple of God's spirit?
It is one of the Fine Arts:
I had almost said,
the finest of Fine Arts.

Nurse's Grammy Award

Grammy is a nurse,
she lives a life of caring.
She takes away aches and pains,
and does a lot of sharing.
My Grammy is so special,
I love her very much.
And that's because I'm one,
to receive her loving touch.

The Nurse's Prayer

Be me in the world.
Be my voice to the deaf.
Be my faith where there is doubt.
Be my hope where there is despair.
Be my light where there is darkness.
Be my joy where there is sadness.
Be me in the world.

Be my eyes to the blind.
Be my consolation to those who need to be consoled.
Be my understanding to those who need to be understood.
Be my healing to those who need to healed.
Be my love to those who need love.
Be my forgiveness to those who need to be forgiven.
Be my death to those who need me.
Be me in the world.

FOR A SPECIAL NURSE
Long before you entered nursing
The Lord had played His part,
Planting seeds of love and kindness
In the portals of your heart.
For it's clear that you've been gifted
With a sympathetic ear,
And blessed from the beginning
With a willingness to cheer.
And the people who you care for
Are better off by far,
When they're touched by your compassion,
By the person that you are.
For in times of woe and worry
When they're frightened or they're blue,
No one could be more consoling than the friend they'll find in you

A NURSE'S PRAYER

Dear Lord, thou Great Healer. May they great strength and power flow through me and lend skill to my hands and vision. Judgment to my mind and Compassion to my heart. Grant me the strength to minister to my Patients in their hour of suffering and travail. Make me worthy, Oh Lord, of this saintly task. And may I faithfully discharge my duties in Deep humility, worthy of the trust and faith placed in me. Amen

Being a NURSE means......

You will never be bored.

You will always be frustrated.

You will be surrounded by challenges.

So much to do and so little time.

You will carry immense responsibility and very little authority.

You will step into people's lives and you will make a difference.

Some will bless you. Some will curse you.

You will see people at their worst-and at their best>

You will never cease to be amazed at people's capacity for love, courage, and endurance.

You will see life begin-and end.

You will experience resounding triumphs and devastating failures.

You will cry a lot. You will laugh a lot.

You will laugh a lot.

You will know what it is to be human and to be humane.
