Upload Help

The Upload view allows you to upload files to FamViewer using a web browser on a desktop computer. The desktop computer and the iPhone/iPod Touch must be on the same local wireless network. WiFi networking must be configured and running on your device. The kind of peer-to-peer networking used by FamViewer doesn't work on the cellular network.

Enable Uploading to FamViewer with the Upload view.	Use the Bonjour browser in your web browser to find your device, which will be identified by its Bonjour Name.
You may also load the FamViewer web page by directly typing the Bonjour Address into your web browser if Bonjour is installed.	You may also load the FamViewer web page by directly typing the FamViewer IP Address into your web browser.

Macintosh

Open the Upload view and enable uploading files to FamViewer with the switch.
Open Safari and go to your Bookmarks Page.
Under COLLECTIONS at the top select Bonjour.
You will see a line that shows FamViewer and the name of your device. Example: FamViewer-Brian's iPod.
Double-click the FamViewer line.
A FamViewer page will appear in your web browser.
Choose the GEDCOM file to upload from your desktop computer.
Click the Upload the File button.
After the file has been imported you may turn off Upload connectivity or simply tap the FamViewer button to return to the previous view.
The Upload feature is only enabled when the Upload view is open and the Enable switch is turned on.
The name listed in the Safari Bonjour browser is also shown as the Bonjour name in FamViewer.
If you use another web browser besides Safari you can type the IP address or the Bonjour Address shown in FamViewer into the URL box in the web browser. Example: http://ipod-2.local.:8080/ Make sure to type theURL exactly as shown including the the period at the end of "local." and the ":8080/" text at the end of the URL.

Windows with Bonjour (recommended)

Install Bonjour. An installer for Bonjour for Windows can be downloaded from Bonjour For Windows.
Bonjour is a kind of zero-configuration networking that allows you to connect to your iPhone or iPod touch on a local WiFi network without having to type in an IP address.
Installation of iTunes or Safari on Windows should also install Bonjour for Windows.
Open the Upload view and enable uploading files to FamViewer with the switch.
If you're using Internet Explorer click the Bonjour icon in the Internet Explorer toolbar to enable Bonjour browsing.
You will see a line that shows FamViewer and the name of your device. Example: FamViewer-Brian's iPod.
Double-click the FamViewer line.
A FamViewer page will appear in your web browser.

Windows By IP Address

Open the Upload view and enable uploading files to FamViewer with the switch.
Note the URL that is displayed in the Upload view. Example: http://192.168.1.101:8080/
On your desktop computer launch a web browser and enter the FamViewer URL in the web address text box and load the page. Enter the URL exactly as shown including the ":8080/" text at the end of the URL.
A FamViewer page will appear in your web browser.
Choose the GEDCOM file to upload from your desktop computer.
Click the Upload the File button.
After the file has been imported you may turn off Upload connectivity or simply tap the FamViewer button to return to the previous view.
