The Genesis brand’s meteoric rise is something we haven’t seen in decades, if ever. The brand went from a few niche models within the Hyundai portfolio, to a full-fledged, multi-vehicle luxury brand in the span of 10 or so years. More importantly, it’s also a wholly competitive player in the luxury market, with vehicles like the G70, GV70, and GV60 receiving international acclaim.

Like clockwork, every new Subaru WRX generation is met with criticism, only for Subaru to respond by adding subsequent trim(s) that supposedly make good on the newest vehicle’s disappointments. The introduction of the VB-gen WRX for the 2022 model year brought waves of hatred over the acres of cladding, negligible power increase, complaints that it wasn’t involving enough, and the demise of the beloved STI variant. The result is the WRX TR, a car in which Subaru claims to have tightened up the driving dynamics while maintaining the all-wheel-drive capability and fun-fused everyday drivability the sedan is known for.

After revealing its full redesign, Kia has announced pricing for the K5 sedan. Given the changes, we’re not surprised to see pricing has risen, if only slightly in the case of most trims. The base model, the K5 LXS starts at $28,145, which is up $1400 from last year’s numbers. The K5 GT-Line is offered in front and all-wheel drive, and sees its own set of price increases- $900 to $29,145 for the FWD model, with the AWD model’s pricing adding $1,600 on top of that, ($30,745) same as before. Buyers can also opt for a $4,400 GT1 package that sounds like it belongs on a 911. In reality, this nets owners the upgraded options standard on EX models like a digital key and ventilated seats.e

A report by Autocar indicates that Aston Martin will continue to sell combustion cars after pushing back the launch of its first EV to 2027.

During the 13th episode of The AutoGuide Show brought to you by eBay Motors, we sat down with Bill Stokes, Carline Planning Manager, Subaru of America. Our discussion focused on a few topics, including the new 2025 Subaru Forester, as well as the WRX TR and the BRZ tS.

The EQS, perhaps rightfully so, caught a lot of flak for its overly round Chicago-Cloud-Gate shape and odd face. One of those things changes as of 2024, with Mercedes updating the EQS’ looks, specs, and features. The most noticeable change is certainly the new face, which features a more traditional Mercedes emblem on the hood and “fins” across the grille that previously held a load of smaller Mercedes stars. The look is a little more traditional, but from a distance, it gives the EQS a more pronounced face, and we think it helps to assuage some of the criticisms levied at the car’s design when it debuted.

The Fiat 500 left our shores a few years and it appeared Fiat might be leaving our market for good. But the brand has returned to North America as an electric vehicle manufacturer and is showing off the brand’s first offering, the 500e.

Chevrolet dropped a teaser for the upcoming Corvette ZR1. Although no details were shared other than a glorious bellowing exhaust, we do know a few things. This will be the first official mid-engine ZR1 and it will have a massive wing. We even see the latter in silhouette in the teaser video below.

This is it. One last Huracan. Lamborghini calls it the STJ, and as we reported earlier, the Huracan Super Trofeo Jota will be the last dance for the V10 supercar. The STJ is based heavily on the Huracan’s STO configuration. The two produce the same power from the 5.2-liter V10 (631 horsepower and 417 pound-feet) and use the same 7-speed dual-clutch automatic driving power to the back wheels.

The Porsche Taycan sparked a war with Tesla when it set a Nurburgring record with its Turbo S. Tesla went on a mission to prove the Model S could beat the Porsche and they did with the Plaid, a 1,020 hp triple-motor EV that lapped the Nurburgring in just 7 minutes and 25 seconds. Not one to sit idly by, Porsche fired back with an all new Taycan model, the Turbo GT, and recently crushed the Plaid’s record by a whopping 18 seconds.

There sure is a lot of commonality between the two Toyota SUVs.

The Acura ADX will debut early next year, according to the Japanese automaker. Acura positions the ADX as a parallel to the entry-level Integra- a “gateway to the Acura Performance brand.” What we know for sure about the new model is, frankly, very little. The model will be a crossover, likely based on the Integra’s front-drive layout. However, it is also possible the SUV will ride on the same underpinnings as the automaker’s current smallest SUV- the RDX.

Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, has published its first-quarter sales figures, and the results, for Jeep at least, are nothing short of shocking. There’s some pun intended there, as 50% of Jeep Wrangler sales were comprised solely of 4xe models- that’s the Wrangler’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) trim. By the end of Q1 2024, Jeep had sold 31,750 PHEVS, which on its own is up 47% from last year. Stellantis’ total PHEV sales jumped by 82% as a result. Of those 31,000-ish cars, a staggering 19,090 were Wrangler 4xe models- nearly two-thrids of all PHEVs sold by Jeep and half of all Wranglers for this quarter. Mind you, this isn’t a new trend, but rather a continuation of hte massive sales success of Jeep’s 4xe. Last year, 4xe sales were up 56%, and accounted for 43% of total Wranlger sales, per Stellantis and insideEVs.

Not everyone is familiar with the Toyota Crown. Hitting our roads last year, Toyota’s latest sedan is very unique and hard to classify. Upon viewing it, many are left wondering if the vehicle is a car or a SUV. Rest assured, the Crown is a car, just in a very unusual package.

The Toyota Crown is strange. Subaru of America, Inc. has introduced the 2025 Subaru Forester, with availability expected in late spring 2024. This iteration marks the sixth generation of the Forester and features updates such as a refreshed exterior design, improvements in interior noise reduction, and advancements in ride and handling. The vehicle is priced starting at $29,695.

In celebration of 4x4 Day this year, Jeep is returning one of its best colors to the lineup. Tuscadero, the automaker’s solar-flare-bright magenta, will be available to order on 2024 Wranglers. The color first debuted in 2021, and according to Jeep, around 30,000 customers placed an order for the loud color that same year. The addition of the color back into the lineup brings the total number of available colors up to nine: Anvil, Earl, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Silver Zynith, Hydro Blue, Bright White, and black.

Our internet sleuths, as well as those at CarBuzz, have uncovered trademark filings suggesting Lamborghini has chosen a name for the Huracan’s successor: Temerario. Seeing as the V10 entry-point to the Lamborghini sports car lineup isn’t long for this world, it makes quite a lot of sense. Alternatively, we think that whatever that car will be called, Lamborghini has held the trademark far longer. You don’t just trademark the name of your next-generation supercar a handful of months before its alleged debut. These filings were made in early February this year, though earlier versions may exist. Point being, someone could well have snatched the Spanish name, which translates to “reckless,” much sooner, leaving what are likely years of planning a total mess.

When Porsche set out to produce its first electric car it had to make sure that it went about it in a way that captured the essence of the brand.

Recently, we spent a week with a 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Q2. Although there were plenty of issues with the car during our time with it, a few other unexpected surprises emerged. Below we summarize the top three things we were not anticipating during our test drive.

BFGoodrich’s All-Terrain T/A KO2 has been a dominant force in the all-terrain tire game since its launch. It carries the torch once lit by the original BFG A/T which helped develop the category and made its mark by becoming one of the most popular and easily recognizable choices in the off-road, truck, and SUV tire world. To see if the KO2 is worth the hype, BFG sent us a set to test on our ongoing Lexus GX460 daily-driver-meets-off-roader build.

Only 25 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S Edition 1 examples will be made. That’s fewer cars than even boutique high-end automakers like Koenigsegg and Bugatti produce in a few years. Given the exclusivity, Mercedes wants a lot of money for such a limited run of cars. $82,435 including destination, to be exact. In fairness, Mercedes includes a ton of otherwise optional extras as standard. This includes the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which adds a front splitter and rear spoiler, as well as a larger diffuser (which here features red accenting). Anything once shiny is made black by the included AMG Night Package, and all Edition 1 models will come finished in AMG Manufaktur Mountain Grey Paint.

After too many years of being neglected, GM has decided to throw some money and attention at their premium brand, Buick and according to the General, it’s working.

The R1T and R1S lineup will now encompass three total trims: Entry, Adventure, and Premium, likely in that order. Currently, Rivian offers the R1T and S Adventure with dual-motor AWD, a Performance dual-motor AWD setup, and a quad-motor AWD setup. There’s no telling exactly how the new trim levels will change these offerings, but we should find out soon- Rivian’s NHTSA paperwork shows these changes could take effect for 2025 model year trucks and SUVs.

Findings from a 2024 survey indicate that skepticism and unease are prevalent among American drivers when it comes to fully autonomous vehicles. A significant 66% of participants have expressed fear, while 25% remain unsure about the prospect of self-driving cars. This data suggests that driver trust in these technologies has not seen an upward trend, mirroring last year’s spike in skepticism. Nonetheless, there is a clear interest in semi-autonomous features that suggests a path forward for the automotive industry.

Autoguide has discovered a new Nissan trademark, filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), for “Tetra.” It’s reasonably safe to assume the name could be used for a new vehicle. After all, Nissan recently announced it would launch seven new models, in addition to refreshing the majority of its US lineup, by 2026. Globally, that total rises to 30 new models.
