Background:
The 777th Joint Brigade 777th Air Brigade, involving Afghan army (Commando), police and intelligence personnel (NDS forces) was launched in the central capital Kabul on 20120808.

The Brigade’s key responsibilities includes providing air support to Afghan special forces, ANA commando unit, intelligence operatives, counterterrorism police, overhaul of security forces in impassable regions, air patrols, border security and supplies for forces.

The special brigade is equipped with modern tools, including night vision goggles, and had the capacity of conducting complex anti-terror operations.

 

AAF has a key role in every mission and can easily eliminate threats. Currently on average, there are 84 combat and logistic flights from Kabul military airfield.

The training of AAF forces began in 2009; with so far only 20 Afghan pilots have received professional training from the United States.(20150114)

Afghan Air Force (AAF) pilot, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, was allegedly suspended after criticizing the management and the pilots' living conditions. After the news went viral on social media, his commander Gen. Abdul Fahim Ramin allegedly reversed his decision. Lack of proper food and accommodation and weak management in his unit were among his top concerns.(20150627)
