Commander 777th special brigade of Afghan Air Force (AAF) Special Mission Wing (SMW) : The Brigade’s key responsibilities includes providing air support to Afghan special forces, ANA commando unit, intelligence operatives, counterterrorism police, overhaul of security forces in impassable regions, air patrols, border security and supplies for forces. The special brigade is equipped with modern tools, including night vision goggles, and had the capacity of conducting complex anti-terror operations.
AAF has a key role in every mission and can easily eliminate threats. Currently on average, there are 84 combat and logistic flights from Kabul military airfield.
The training of AAF forces began in 2009; with so far only 20 Afghan pilots have received professional training from the United States.(20150114) |
