The Blonds Jungle Goddess for Fall 2010

If there's one show I'll stay out "late" for, it's the Blonds. David and Philippe Blond cannot top anyone for theatrics, colorful fashionistas, and concept clothes that you won't find in your local department store! For this show, the jungle goddess, was King. Philippe Blond opened the show wearing a gorilla suit, shedding the beast and revealing the beauty, and a sexy gold bustier dress The rest of the models walked down the runway to a sound track of roars, shrieks, and whistles, that sounded like the Bronx Zoo at feeding time thanks to Mrwilsondjby.

Celebrities, for whom eye-catching and edgy (but beautiful) fashion is a must-have, covet tse designs of mainly barely-there dresses and lots of corsets, richly embellished with metal pailettes, chains, jewels and lots of agressive looking (but sexy) spikes. One guest, Americal Idol Runner-up Adam Lambert, showed his own style, with a black leather outfit featuring hands with long, gold "claws." Clearly, he was ahead of the curve and in the spirit of The Blonds Fall 2010 Fashion collection! Other celebrities who were entralled included Miss J Alexander, Amanda Lepore, and Robert Verdi. The clothes (if you can call most of them that) offered a welcome respite from the pretty party frocks in the main tent at Bryant Park, and gave us lots of glitter in the midst of a very gloomy week. These statement pieces turn heads!

I took photos from the photography riser, after I'd been backstage, checking out the backstage to see nails created by Creative Nail Design with lead nail artist Kristina Estabrooks, specifically for The Blonds (there will be a separate report on the nails with video, and also one on the makeup by Kabuki with the MAC Pro Team, and the hair concept, by Fred Vanderbundt @ Art Department and Roberto Morelli for Philippe Blond). I asw a few of the looks up close, before the show. I'd also seen one of the spiked dresses on view at the Eco Domani runway show the previous day. But I couldn't help but hear but chuckle at the reaction of photographers in the front of the riser near me (who hadn't had a backstage preview). They were loudly saying over and over again: "Oh Wow! Oh Wow! Oh Wow!" I am sure the rest of the audience was doing the same, although we all kept our eyes fixed on the models.

Along with the amazing amount of show-stopping bling, were glittery shoes, high (literally and figuratively) wattage shoes for the Blonds by Christian Loboutin. Spikes, chains, gravity-defying shoes that Victoria Beckham will surely buy. If I could, I'd just buy them and display them as works of art! Ditto the custom jewelry by NoIR for the Blonds, the hats by Victor Osborne, the furs and feather by Adrienne Landau, and the sexy gloves by Carolina Amato.


No matter where you look when you're at The Blonds, there's something wonderful. David and Philippe take to the runway to end the show. See their runway walk in my video, below.
