Talent Show Ideas?
Our school has a talent show coming up, and almost every year its monotonous singing and bad dancing, with the ocasional gymnastics routine or guitar player. I and a friend were trying to think of something fun and different to do, to get the crowd interested and laughing. We're not afraid to be silly in front of people - but we can't think of what to do that isn't OVERLY stupid.
Any insight on this? Details would be great...not something just like "Do a skit."

I decided to do the Napolean Dynamite dance that he does in the end of the movie. you could have your friend act as Pedro from the movie and you could do the dance. My school really loved it haha. Watch the video and you will probably hear a lot of laughs. By the way, I told almost nobody i was doing the dance, so when i went up there everyone was like "what the hell is he doing?".. and then i did the dance hahahahaha.

do part of a song, then do a whole song
for example, part of poker face, then do bad romance
or if u want to do dance in the dark, have the lights off like to so happy i could die and dance in the dark

okay. get a bunch of your friends together and bunch of teachers together. Pick a song to dance to with your friends.Have hte music stop all of a sudden and have one of your friends be like "sorry for the confusion. We'll start over" Then have a teacher come out and be like "so need to start over" then have the group of teachers come out and just start dancing randomly.ALSOOOOOOO.....
Turn off all the lights and get a bunch of glow sticks and put htem on your body like a skeleton. It looks really cool like you're a sick figure.

Well if you need some dancers get at us we are "good" dancers and we interact with the crowd. We are about to do throw alot of talent shows ourselves so contact us if you want to be apart of them or would like our dance group to be apart of yours.

Here are a some ideas i hope they help.
whistle a song, teach a song,
dance routine,
play an instrument,
tell jokes, comedy act,
tell a story, read a poem,
acrobats: pyramid, cartwheels, etc,
puppet show, ventriloquist,
skit or mime,
impersonation of a famous person
or cartoon character,
hog call or other animal,
magic tricks,
something you are good at,maybe hula-hoop or Rubix cube etc
I know you will come up with something Good Luck and have fun!

My daughter and 5 of her friends entered their school talent show last year as the "Brady Bunch" dancing to "Keep on". It was the hit of the night! They all wore blue cotton pants, using white duct tape for the stripes. They wore white tops, using blue duct tape for the stripes. If you are not familiar with this routine ask any female that grew up in the 1970's for help. Also this web-site has a place were you can listen to the song:

The Brady Bunch performed this song & dance on the episode were they called themselves "The Silver Platters" to try to win money to buy their parents an anniversary gift.

Last year, some people at my school actually took plates, put them on a stick and started trying to balance them! It was so funny, and it cracked us all up! I guarantee you that if you do this everybody will laugh. Or you can get a male friends, dress him up in girl clothes, and maybe get him to cheerlead with you, and the cheerleading should be about pasta on armpits.

You guys could dance to the Numa Numa Song! That would be absolutely hilarious. People would love it. The song is actually called Dragostea Din Tei, and is sung bu the band Ozone, but is generally nicknamed "The Numa Numa Song" or "the Maya Hee Song." This guy made up this hilarious dance to it and is made famous throughout the world. To see it, go to Google and type in "Numa Numa Song" and "Gary Brolsma"

Last year, my friends and I all dressed up as different kinds of zombies and monsters, and one of them dressed up as Michael Jackson. We all learned the Thriller dance and performed it... we didn't really win anything, but it was a ton of fun and people still talk about it all the time. Also, the winners of the talent show at my college did the Spartan cheerleader skit from SNL. Look to things that people are familiar with and parodize them. Best of luck to you, I bet you will be memorable :)

What about both of you recite a poem? It's like you are having a conversation, talking to each other back and foward... except in poetic form. You can make it funny and even act it out a little or have silly props. Or you can make it sad (i.e. you both are orphans and the poem is about how crappy your life has been because of that) or whatever you want. Just a thought. Good luck.

Well if you want to get people laughing, and aren't afraid to be silly? Then i would do a skit by monty python.
if you have never heard of them then rent one of there movies like, The Life of Brian, The Quest for the Holy Grail, and The Meaning of Life.
They have alot of great skits, if thats what you are looking for.
(you can find alot of there scripts on line by googling, 'Monty Python'
