AWF Tools is a collection of some of the more generic 3dsmax macroscripts that we have developed in the studio to aid in production. Feel free to download and use.

Animation Baking Tool - Updated ! - Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
Bakes position, rotation and scale animation. Filters keys to remove unnecessary keys. Great for working with CAT, when you need to export without rig. Can snapshot mesh. Fixed Parent Hiearchy Bug, and added rather useful copy/paste transform controller (TC) buttons that can be used seperately to the baking (but it has a pasting bug). v 0.6 Improve key filtering, particularly with scale. Replace original node rather than copying/deleting. Copy baseobject and modifiers, rather than mesh snapshot. Scale keys are not filtered correctly. Bounding Box calculates incorrectly. If "delete original" option used, dependency problems can be created. The paste transform controller will paste correctly, but will not update till you try to transform the object. ***** ***
MAX2AE Converter Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
Converts max plane primitives in MAX2AE helpers. Requires MAX2AE plugin. v 0.9 None. None known. * *****
Modifier Tool Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
Allows on-mass editing/re-instancing/replacing of modifiers in the modifier stake. Great for updating scenes that require lots of similar modifications. Allows modifier to be treated as instanced without them actually being instanced. Also allows selecting based on modifiers/instanced modifiers. v 1.0 Modifier GUI emulation in the utility. Allow partial Modifier value pasting. Some modifiers are buggy when used in certain positions in the modifier stack. If modifiers are topology dependent, then so is this tool (not really a bug). ***** ****
Morph Target Mirror Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
A method of creating a mirrored morph target. Works in all three directions. Also has a option for creating a symmetrical target from a picked target, however the result is a bit dodgey. Grant Adam has a commercial plugin that does this, pretty sure his plugin would work better. v 0.9.2 Make symmetrical target work properly. Use vertex position rather than skinwrap. Probably won't happen. Symmetrical target is munted. Can be quite slow on large meshes. **** **
Morpher UberGUI Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
Allows control of a morpher modifier outside the context of the Modifier Panel. A development/modification of the script in the maxscript reference. Kudos to go to the original coder (Bobo?) One of the great features of this is that you can change the morph animation without having the object selected. Max8 only. v 0.1 Pose clipboard to copy and paste key poses (and save/load poses to file). Allow several UberGUI to run at the same time. Expose track keys in UberGUI for surrounding frames, not just current frame. Requires refresh if new channels added (not really a bug). The open trackview doesn't work initially (you have to press it twice in order to select the track the first time it is used, seem to be a maxscript problem). ***** ***

Poly Edge Number Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
A simple tool to identify various sided polys. Allows specification of map channel to use, so that you don't have to overwrite VC information. Grant Adam has a commercial plugin that does this. v 0.9 Work with/under symmetry modifier. Remove necessity to collapse to poly. Cache existing map channel data. Random Material Tool Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free

SymBase - NEW ! - Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
A macro that creates a base poly object for creating setup geometry for symmetrical box modelling. The user can specify symmetry axis, move and size box, along with unify MatIDs and Smoothing groups. v 0.2 Implement as custom geometry plugin. User cannot rotate/scale the symbase object while creating. **** ****
TurboSmooth Tool Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
A variant of the modifier utility, but with lots of TS specific options (and TS/MS script access complications). Can convert Meshsmooth to TurboSmooth. v 1.5 Maybe create a mini-floater version of the tool. None known. *** *****
Z-Auto Version Future Improvements Bugs Usefulness Bug-free
Opacity map functionality has been temporarily removed. Tool for creating Z depth pass when working with opacity mapped materials. Allows interactive modification of falloff range. Sets renderer and renderer options to ensure that pass is not filtered/antialiased. Works with Standard, Blend and MultiSub materials currently. v 0.2 Increase material compatibility. Do something with refract/reflect. Improve scene extends estimation. Allow interactive keyframing of falloff ranges. Some materials are not supported. Sometimes has redraw/refresh problems. Inaccurate scene extends estimation. * *

Customize User Interface -> Browse Category: AWF Script Tools -> Drop and drag to toolbars (or make an new AWF Tools toolbar) and menus.
